51. Male costumes, traditional costumes Senja (Troms). Portrait of same leather clothing standing in photography studio with neutral background and patterned carpet. He keeps cane in his right hand.

Index of Marcus Selmer (1819-1900) folk costume series, ref. his catalog published in 1872 (see References). Contains 129 no. (Here nr.51) card size, where several designs are also available in larger formats. Most should be done about 1862-1866, preferably in the studio in Bergen. Same design of costume / model was fitted over neutral background for various drawing interiors / exteriors with other processed detail (also some photographic exteriors). They will exist in the same directory no. (with us introduced at various NF-No.). The suits were spreckled, without particular regard to the correct colors. Selmer photographs are often equipped with stamp or label that can contribute to dating, but rarely on the year. Besides, later manipulations of older designs do dating uncertain. The photographs in our series here is card size, but has not been mounted on cardboard original and therefore has no stamp on the back. They must be installed after they came to the NF, in short from the oldest part of The Picture Collection archives system (gray cardboard folders from dir.Aalls time, octavo). Original Copy moved to rest archives.
