The large PRESSA print media exhibition was held in Cologne in 1928 and highlighted German dominance in all the fields of printing and publishing. It was also intended as a showcase of modernist architecture (with the pavilion for the publisher Rudolf-Mosse, designed by Erich Mendelsohn) and modernist exhibition display (it featured the legendary work of El Lissitsky for the U.S.S.R. pavilion). During the exhibition a series of photos were taken of the mixed media sculptures by Michail Plaksin and El Lissitzky. Only a few prints of these images still exist today and are very rare.
