Jules Itier 1845 A Man from Central Borneo [Possibly a Cannibal]
Daguerreotype, 1/4 plate Wilson Center for Photography (WCP) The first daguerreotype or photograph taken in Borneo, c.1845. Itier also took the first photographs in China and some of the first in the Middle East. This image, a portrait of a young man from the central part of the island is published and documented and comes from the noted collector G. Gimon and bears his stamp.
