Item is a photograph of a camel taken on the Ingram estate in Grande Prairie BC, now Westwold BC. The man holding the rope is W.H. Smith. The man on the camel is either A. McPhail or Adam Heffley. There is a caption on the front and back of the photograph.
 
Caption on front: Camels in BC. Introduced into the colony in May, 1862 by Frank Laumeister - 21 in the band. The last survivor of which died about 1905. 1. W.H. Smith with rope. 2. A. McPhail. Taken 1888 at the back of Ingram estate, Grand Prairie.
 
Caption on back: Cariboo camel. Man riding camel identified as Adam Heffley. Information from his great-great-grandson…from a comparison of this with other pictures in the possession of his mother.
