A studio portrait of Mrs Edmund Ward has been mounted in a painted border. Her hair is worn back in a centre parting, she is wearing an evening dress with a crucifix on a ribbon round her neck and round beaded earrings. The border consists of colourful flowers and trellis on a black background. Two etched images of a child and a woman have also been incorporated into the border.
