Pamphlet cover Wellcome Collection Medact was formed in 1992 as a merger between the Medical Campaign Against Nuclear Weapons (MCANW) and the Medical Association for the Prevention of War (MAPW).
The photograph of a child was originally taken by Yosuke Yamahata and was subject to a ban from publication by the Allies until 1952.
