Tintype
Cowan's Auctions, Inc
15 November 2019, American History, Including Treasures of the Civil War: Premier Auction, Lot: 392

Hand tinted, 2.375 x 3.5 in. tintype of a Central Plains Indian, possibly Southern Arapaho, standing in a studio setting, holding a pipe. The subject wears a feathered headdress, German silver armbands, gold tinted cross at his waist, and moccasins. His tobacco bag appears to have a section of quill-wrapped parfleche slats at the bottom of the bag, above the fringe, which is an Arapaho and Lakota feature. Housed in thermoplastic hanging frame, 3.5 x 5.375 in.
