Triangles

Silver print
3 3/4 x 2 3/4 in (9.5 x 7 cm)

Swann Galleries - New York
Courtesy of Swann Galleries (Auction, May 22, 2007, #2115, Lot 264)

With Cunningham's signature, in pencil, on mount recto and her "Green Street" address label on mount verso.

One of Cunningham's most notable and recognizable images, "Triangles" illustrates a seamless marriage between space and form. Labeled as "The One" on her negative file, Cunningham knew instantly of her successful vision.

The photograph was taken in Los Angeles during a shoot that produced approximately three dozen variant 4x5 inch negatives of both individual and double nudes of her friends Jackie and Helen Greaves, who were also artists.
Imogen Cunningham: On the Body, 44
. From a Private West Coast Collector.
