George Eastman Museum For his "Equivalents," Stieglitz photographed around Lake George in upstate New York with a 4x 5-inch Graflex camera and made only contact prints on gelatin silver paper. He presented his goals as a visual riddle: "My aim is increasingly to make my photographs look so much like photographs that unless one has eyes and sees, they won't be seen and still everyone will never forget them having once looked at them."
