Original vintage 1944 U.S. Coast Guard Photo of this celebrated image of the D-Day invasion by Robert F. Sargent. This is one of the most celebrated images of the invasion. It served as a model for a scene in "Saving Private Ryan." Sargent took the quotation from Tennyson and gave it an added dimension by the framing of the open front of the landing barge.
