Paestum, General View from the summit of the walls near the [so called] Porta del Mare

Daguerreotype
National Science and Media Museum
Part of the Ellis group of daguerreotypes, Inventory no: 1890-56-Pt1

Landscape view of the temple of Paestum, from the summit of the walls near the Porta del Mare. In the foreground are a number of archaeological stone blocks, a ruin on the right hand side and possibly a roadway in the mid ground from left to right. Beyond this, the largely complete temple of Paestum shows as a forest of columns with remnants of the superstructure.
