This was possibly taken at the nearby fishing village of Newhaven, which provided ample subject matter for Hill & Adamson. Their un-published volume on this series has recently been brilliantly re-created by Stevenson. A good sense of day to day activity has been preserved in this image. Unfortunately, uneveness in the chemical coating has distorted the tonal values. This negative has been waxed and is inscribed in pencil "21" and in ink "117B".
