Bazar Nadar / Wouter Lambrechts
The pose of the woman is based on the myth of Phryné, a Greek courtesan. She is best known for her trial for impiety. A loved topic in art history and painted by Jean-Léon Gêrome in 1861.

Several photographers made studies of this pose like Nadar, Igout, Henri Oltramare, Willy Kessels, Waléry (Laryew) and many others.
