An amusing tour-de-force of conceptual photography. Artist Mike Mandel spent two years photographing master photographers, curators, collectors, and critics. Each figure presents him- or herself differently: some don the complete "boys of summer" uniform while others actively pose with a bat and ball. The name of the subject appears in white letters on recto and the player''s "vital statistics" (favorite camera, film and photographer) on verso. The line-up features Adams, Bravo, Cunningham, Eggleston, Gilpin, Michals, Newman, Szarkowski, and Mandel himself, among many others.
