Detail showing the RIVES watermark on border of a representative vellum plate in this 1897 portfolio manufactured by the French paper manufacturer Blanchet et Kléber of Rives, France. Not all plates exhibit the Rives watermark however. Photo has been lightened for illustration purposes.
 
Other plates in this portfolio contain the BFK watermark on the border edge. The BFK watermark is an abbreviation for Blanchet, FrÞres,and Kléber.
