The title is written in period pen on the bottom of the mount, suggesting that this was a special edition. This is a wide view showing the ships at the right and left, and the huge crowd of newly arrived Chinese with their belongings on the dock. They face the bay, away from the camera. This rare historic view must have been taken before 1882, when the Chinese Exclusion Act suppressed Chinese immigration to the U.S.
