A young socialite from San Francisco, traveled for two years beginning in 1924 to Japan, China, Southeast Asia, Egypt and Northern Africa. Each page of her album is jammed with layers of photographs, postcards and images cut out of guides, pasted one on top of the other, which combine in a dizzying array. The album's viewer comes away from it with a sense of the heady adventure that characterized the young woman's travels.
