A landmark building at 874 Broadway, the MacIntyre Building was constructed in 1892. In the 1970s it housed artists, potters, photographers and the infamous Cobra Club (with real snakes) on the 7th floor which was eventually shut down by the police. Apparently some snakes escaped and for years after the club was closed they were still found in the building. The triplex tower was the scene of many infamous and decadent parties in the 1970s. The famed illustrator Antonio lived in the East Wing facing 18th Street.
