In 1890, the Professional Photographers of America donated this monument to the Smithsonian to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Daguerre's invention of photography in 1839. Sculpted by Jonathan Scott Hartley. This monument is next to the National Portrait Gallery in Washington DC.
