Jean Geiser (1848-1923) was one of three sons of Julie Geiser who had partnered with photographer Jean-Baptiste Antoine Alary in Algeria in 1855 following the death of the boy's father. All seem to have participated in the photography trade, howver brothers James & Jean Theophile both died by 1872 leaving Jean to run his own studio by 1872 in Alger, continuing at least until 1913. The Geiser name runs deep in the history of Algerian photography.
