Skaife's Pistolgraph Depot (32 Sussex Place, Regent's Park)
1864, 12 July (taken)
Portrait of Alfred Hadfield taken on a train
[The Glasgow Photographic Association Album (1860-1880)]

Carte de visite, back
University of Glasgow, Library
Sep. 6th, 1864

I have the pleasure in certifying that on 12th of July last, when travelling by express train to London, Mr. SKAIFE, took my Photograph, whilst the train was at full speed. I beg further to say that my family consider the profile a faithful likeness, and the Mr. SKAIFE, is at perfect liberty to publish my declaration as commendatory of his art. I may further say that I was wholly unconscious of what was going on, till I was shown the Photograph.

Alfred Hadfield,
Silver Parsonage,
Lancaster.
