(Alan Griffiths, 28 December 2021) I'm indebted to Kent Thompson for bringing this photograph to my attention.
 
Luther Hodges can be seen on these posters--Hodges would become JFK's Secretary of Commerce, after serving 6 years as governor of NC, the longest at that time until the laws were changed to allow for two consecutive terms.
 
This photo, although the print has no credit--I think it was shot by Hugh Morton. Morton's negatives and prints are held by UNC-CH at Wilson Library and have extensive coverage of political campaigns from the late 1940s through early 2000s.
