Rev. John Kirk (1795-1858) who as minister of Arbirlot Church in Angus participated in the foundation of the Free Church of Scotland in 1843. was the father of medical officer and amateur photographer Dr John Kirk (1832-1922) who went to Africa with Dr Stanley Livingstone.
