A. Horsley Hinton
1898
Melton Meadows

Photogravure
National Science and Media Museum
Ref Number: 2003-5001/2/20020

[Curatorial description - National Media Museum - December 2011]

This photogravure shows how Hinton believed in the importance of composition. In a lecture in 1897, Hinton told his audience 'shun with dread any object which is interesting, curious or grotesque in itself', he added 'you are picture making… not preparing illustrations for a guide book'.
