Bird's-eye view of a small town. A stream is on the lower right, with mining activity at lower left. This view is the basis of a wood engraving on a pictorial lettersheet issued in 1857 or before. A photographic copy of the lettersheet (from a private collection) is in the Bancroft Library, filed as BANC PIC 19xx.074b--PIC. The lettersheet view is captioned "Mormon Island." An uncaptioned version of the print is filed as BANC PIC 19xx.074a--PIC.
