Lady Clementina Hawarden
1863-1864 (ca)
Isabella Grace and Clementina Maude, 5 Princes Gardens; Photographic Study

Albumen print, from wet collodion negative
23.8 x 27.0 cm

Victoria and Albert Museum
Given by Lady Clementina Tottenham, Museum number: 255-1947

Curatorial description (Accessed: 29 March 2016)
This is from the same 'Orientalist' series as PH.278-1947. The photograph has three slightly curved lines in the upper right area. These were probably caused either during the coating of the glass negative with wet collodion (which contained light sensitive salts) or perhaps during washing or toning. The change of posture of the models between this photograph and PH.278-1947 is slight, but the position of the sun has already changed and the light and the shadows are quite different.
