Brass frame with central opening. Engraved with the inventor's name, "Lewis T. Young, / Phila."
 
Partly printed tag, completed in ink reads: "No. 145711 / Louis T. Young / Guide for Cutting / Photographic / PIctures / Patented Dec. 16th / 1873." Smaller tag reads, "Lewis T. Young / Impt. in Forms for Cutting / views / Received Oct. 16 / [illegible] Oct. 28, 73." Accompanied by a photocopy of the patent and diagram
