They stand holding hands before the rough wooden board fence, and way back, we see the out of focus trees. The father has a tall hat, the child a straw one. The image is somewhat light, with wipes and shiny areas. Nevertheless the wonderful tender character lures us to fight through the obstacles to appreciate what remains of this great daguerreotype.
