Extraordinary sixth-plate occupational ruby ambrotype of a wallpaper hanger. The happy go lucky gentleman seems quite proud of his profession. He holds a large pair of scissors in one hand and a paste brush in the other. A roll of wallpaper is seen cascading down his leg for display. The photographer's composition is outstanding- it appears as if our worker has stopped for his portrait on the way to a job! Obviously, the image had a mat at one time; however we purchased it in this format and in our opinion the full frame provides a much more dramatic presentation. We have replaced the old cover glass with a new piece and the image is housed in a half a leather case. This ambrotype has very nice tonal qualities, contrast, and detail. It is a fantastic piece that would enhance any collection.
