Hill & Adamson took this view in September 1844 and the recent fire at the Minster is clearly evidenced by the boarded up windows. This is a close variation of HA507, taken a few minutes earlier, with the figures in differing positions. Stevenson quotes Hill as saying his York pictures "were among the best things I have tried" but that "the big ones in so far as the figures were concerned did not turn out well - though the architecture was very wonderful".
