Rare and curious objects, these portrait photo collages were inspired by Dada and Surrealism. Stepan used decals, paper objects and string to add new meaning and humor to the rather conventional cabinet portraits of the late 19th century. These are prime examples of Stepan's surreal and fantasy-filled work.
