Money's scarce

Stereoview
Library Company of Philadelphia
Accession number: P.9299.13

From James Cremer, importer and dealer in frames, cases and stereoscopes. Publisher of stereoscopic views, 18 South Eighth Street,

Comic genre scene depicting a frowning female proprietor asking for money from a male customer patronizing her rustic tavern. She holds her hand out to the surprised man seated on a barrel and rummaging in his pants pocket. Another male customer points and laughs at the man from behind the slightly ajar tavern door. In the background, patrons smoke long pipes, play cards, and are served below a sign inscribed "Pay to Day & Trust Tomorrow."
