Dated and captioned by the artist on the negative “Château de France à Luqsor, 10 janvier 1859”. Théodule Charles Devéria was a prominent French Egyptologist who lived in the 19th century. He was the son of the painter Achille Devéria and a friend of J.B. Greene.
