CDV endorsed recto, "Yours Respectfully Gallio Furman Capt. 37 Ills Inftyà " Furman was made 1st Lieutenant on 7/20/62, and Captain on 6/25/64. This unit was called the "Fremont Rifles," and also "The Illinois Greyhounds" for their rapid March at Prairie Grove. They fought brilliantly at Pea Ridge, the Siege of Vicksburg, Morgan's Bend etc. Furman mustered out in Houston, Texas.
