Salt print, from waxed paper negative Private collection of Steffen Wolff Steffen Wolff made three or four prints from the original waxed paper negative at the Fox Talbot Museum in 1983 as there were no positive copies at that point and high quality scanning was not available. The prints on the Internet may well be copies of copies and do not have the original toning. This photograph could be by Antoine Claudet but it is normally attributed to Henry Fox Talbot.
Steffen Wolff (pers. email, 28 February 2012)
"We think this portrait was taken in London in Claudet's studio in 1844. So the photographer could be Claudet himself, a friend of Talbot."
