Atget's pencil notation of the address on verso: "Rue des Bourdounais 33" and his negative number "5497." This first appears to be something on a church, but the letters of the word "VINS" can be seen at the upper left. There is a grape motif on the ironwork. So this must be the name of the shop or tavern.
It must have been challenging to point the camera upward to include the Jesus figure in the center, and keep the vertical bars parallel to the edges of the print, and show enough of the "VINS" to give context. Atget was a master of these compositional challenges.
