Hill & Adamson
n.d.
Two unidentified women; standing one consoling seated one

Waxed paper negative, positive version
University of Glasgow, Library
Hill & Adamson Collection, GUL Number: HA0626

This was possibly taken at the nearby fishing village of Newhaven, which provided ample subject matter for Hill & Adamson. Their un-published volume on this series has recently been brilliantly re-created by Stevenson. The sunlight raking off the bricks provides a sense of texture and drama and the natural light falloff of the lens in the corners additionally frames this scene. The negative has been waxed for printing and is inscribed in pencil "3".
