In Craig's Daguerreian Registry (www.daguerreotype.com) it says:
 
"Active as a daguerreian in Harford County, Md., 1858 to 1860. Born in Austria in 1843, he came to the U.S. in 1852. He apparently took up photography in 1854 and opened his own gallery in 1858. He later moved into a studio in Baltimore. He later produced the magazine The Photographer's Friend."
