Illustrated with 30 delectable images depicting loaves and slices of bread, comprising 2 tipped-in silver prints and 39 reproductions (with 11 in color and 27 in black-and-white). Large 4to, gilt-lettered decorative green cloth. Parr/Badger I 56. first edition.
 
The author, Owen Simmons, is listed as "the highest possible medalist in the United Kingdom in bread-making" as well as an expert, judge and lecturer on bread-making technology.
 
His text addresses such important bread-making issues as scalded flour, gluten, crumbliness, yeast, sourness, and methods of manufacture. In addition, a host of photographically illustrated advertisements depict machinery related to cake-making, biscuits, ovens, kneading, and moulding implements.
