With a picture agency caption label, hand stamps and contemporary notations, in pencil and ink, on verso.
 
Orville Wright is seen at the controls of the plane, with Wilbur running alongside. This was their first powered, controlled and sustained flight; Daniels photographed all 4 flights made that day. Orville preset the camera and Daniels snapped the now famous image, almost forgetting to squeeze the shutter since he was overcome by excitement seeing the plane lift off the ground.
