Clarence Erskine Kelley and son, telescope at Wingate Estate, Broadway, Haverhill. Kelley is on the left, looking through the eyepiece of a large telescope pointed at the sky. It is daylight. His young son (name not given) is standing on the right, holding what may be a separate eyepiece. They are both wearing caps and dark clothing. Kelley was an astronomy instructor and Principal of Haverhill High School 1881 - 1900; he was later an astronomy instructor at Harvard. The view is from Pecker's Hill, Haverhill, church in the background. Inscription with print in file: "Clarence Kelley & son ca. 1880-1890 / Telescope at Wingate Estate, Broadway / St. John the Evangelist Church ca. 1890." Photographer may be W. Orin Tasker; handwriting on mount similar to others by him. See also HG2 Senter GLS 6-16, which is labeled "High School Telescope."
