André Adolphe-Eugène Disdéri
1871 (ca)
Commune de Pais, Ruines de Paris

Albumen print
Bazar Nadar / Wouter Lambrechts
La Chapelle is pictured as well as some people in the street. Photo with nice details and composition. When the Prussians began to bombard Paris, Disdéri began to document these events. Because of the technical limitations most photographs consist of damaged buildings. During the Commune of 1871 Disderi recorded the areas of Paris that suffered damage by the Communards. (Carolyn Peter, 2008) His most famous photo in this series is the one with the dead Communards, now in the collection of BnF. Mounted on the same blue cardboard as this one.
