When the Prussians began to bombard Paris, Disdéri began to document these events. Because of the technical limitations most photographs consist of damaged buildings. During the Commune of 1871 Disderi recorded the areas of Paris that suffered damage by the Communards. (Carolyn Peter, 2008)
