Carl Michel studied medicine and became a dedicated doctor. In his free time he began studying classical theater roles and sometimes appeared in smaller roles in local theaters. Up until 1892 he had a successful doctors practice in Cologne. After having established a strong financial base he decided to solely commit himself to acting which also led to the publication of this book showing him in various poses and with an array of expressions.
