Syphilis Hereditaria

Collotype, hand-coloured
Private collection of John Wood
Poem: Mr. Sinister Smiles

Mr. Sinister smiles
At you Lady, and drools

And drips a bit from where
You'd guess, but would most fear.

He has made many plans:
Little trips for his hands.

And they all involve you.
Oh there's nothing to do

But wait for him. He's there
You know, and he's like air:

He's everywhere you'd go.
He's got something to show

Just you. You won't like it.
