Charles Richard Meade
1881 (print), 1846 (original Daguerreotype)
Daguerre, 1787-1851

Woodburytype
Archives of Modern Conflict OR National Gallery of Canada
This portrait presented with the Yearbook of Photography, 1881 is incorrectly attributed in the printed caption as "From a Daguerreotype taken in 1846 by J.E. Mayall'. Further research by Matt Isenberg says that it was actually by Charles Meade an 1848.

This illustration was included in the lecture "The many faces of Daguerre" presented by Matt Isenburg at the Daguerreian Society Symposium (2009).
