Paestum, General View from the top of a shed near the [so called] Porta del Mare

Daguerreotype
National Science and Media Museum
Part of the Ellis group of daguerreotypes, Inventory no: 1890-56-Pt2

Landscape view of Paestum, General view from near the Porta del Mare. A road runs across the centre for the image, left to right. There is an ancient stone and brick structure to the right, columns on either side of the road, fluted Doric columns of the temples beyond, with much of the entablature superstructure remaining. Two rough stone pillars mark each side of the roadway.
