Cet ouvrage a été édité en souvenir de la Troisiéme expostion d'art photographique organisée par le Photo-Club de Paris en Mai MDCCCXCVI ("This album has been created as a souvenir of the third exposition of art photography organized by the Photo-Club de Paris in May of 1896")
Le tirage des planches a été exécuté dans les ateliers de M. Charles Wittmann et celui du texte par l'Imprimerie Chaix ("The pulling of the boards has been performed in the workshops of Mr. Charles Wittmann and that of the text by the printing works Chaix.")
The term "boards" refers to the actual paper photographic plate reproduction produced. These were individually hand printed and "pulled" on vellum paper from a copper-plate press.
