Captured during the failed Northfield bank robbery attempt by Jesse James and the Younger gang. He is shown without his shirt. This is the same image as the CDV by Burnham in the Swann Lot.
 
3 1/8" x 2 1/8" gelatin-silver print on 5 ยข" x 4 +" gray mount with Sumner & Son blindstamp. "Pitts" written in pen above the print. "Chadwick" in another hand in pencil on verso. Some letters in pencil on the print. (Larry Gottheim)
