Tyler & Co. (Boston, MA) 1854 (ca) Portrait of a butcher
Daguerreotype, 1/9 plate Archives of Modern Conflict OR National Gallery of Canada A small handwritten label came with this image. All it said is "Butcher on the day of his wedding". He sports a wonderful stovepipe hat and dress clothing peek from beneath his butcher's smock. The blood-like coloring added to the knife blade makes a dramatic but confusing statement.
