A proponent of physical exercise and an assistant of Etienne-Jules Marey for the chronophotography techniques study movement. In 1892 he patented his Photophone for taking moving images and his Phonoscope for projecting them and was therefore a significant figure in the development of early cinema.

Georges Demenÿ (12 June 1850 in Douai - 26 October 1917 in Paris) was a French inventor, chronophotographer, filmmaker, gymnast and physical fitness enthusiast.
